Artisan's
statement:
Tatting is almost a lost art form and I hope that my jewellery will not only give people a unique and beautiful piece of jewellery but also help to revive an interest in this ancient art.
|
I have tried to make my designs more modern than the usual snowflakes on ear wires. Tatting is the perfect medium for
jewellery. Unlike crochet and knitting which is done with a loop, tatting is done with a knot. This makes it strong with a delicate look likened to filigree.
My feathers that I sell are from our birds at our parrot refuge. These are very popular with crafters and kids. All monies from the feathers go back to the birds.

Artisan's
statement:
Hello! We are Jessica and Laurel Temmel- two of three sisters born and raised on Saltspring Island. Growing up on a small and beautiful island as members of an utterly unique community, we developed an appreciation for the finer things in life: funky jewelry,
|
hiking through the forest, biking up and down mountains, potluck dinners at the beach, thrift store shopping, dark chocolate, garden gnomes and nature t-shirts.
With passion for environmental and social justice issues and love for all things artful, kitschy and crafty, Sister Sister Buttons is a collaborative enterprise. Together we dream up, scheme up, draw, paint and design buttons, magnets, mirrors and cards.
Not only is Sister Sister Buttons a means to support our gourmet dinner parties, our fancy post-secondary education aspirations and traveling addictions, but also (we hope!) a way to express positive messages that border on political, include the ridiculous and bring about some chuckles.

Artisan's
statement:
Bling Squared Wearable Glass Sculpture is a husband and wife team of glass sculptors.
Each and every unique piece is designed, sculpted right in the open flame, kiln annealed, cleaned and made into jewelry and fashion accessories in their home studio on Salt Spring Island.
Their inspiration comes from obsessions with Japanese animation, comic books, fashion, pop culture and their daughter – leading them to create a large variety of endearing characters and designs that have an uncanny ability to make people smile and sometimes even eliciting a gasp or squeal.
They are always branching out with new designs and improving on old ones. They adore their craft and art, and the very best reward they have found is finding others who love their little sculptures as much as they do.

Artisan's
statement: "When designing a piece it’s important for me to express a kind of whimsy – fun, friendly, bold and outgoing are words that have been used to describe my pieces. Connecting with people is important to me and I want my designs to communicate this. I like when a piece of jewelry sparks a conversation or when it reveals something about the wearer’s personality”.
